Alberta’s regulated online gambling market recorded C$2.89 billion in wagers during its first reporting period, highlighting strong early activity following its July launch. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) released the figures on October 23, covering July 13 to September 30, 2026.
Licensed operators generated C$122.1 million in gross gaming revenue during the period, while the market recorded 388,585 active player accounts in September. The figures provide an early indication of how Alberta’s new regulatory system is developing.
Online Casino Games Lead Alberta’s iGaming Market
Monthly wagering increased throughout the reporting period, rising from C$532.9 million between July 13 and July 31 to C$1.06 billion in August and C$1.22 billion in September.
Online casino games accounted for the largest share of activity. In September, casino gaming generated C$42.8 million gross gaming revenue, representing 75.6% of the market total. Sports and event betting contributed C$11.1 million, while live dealer games generated C$2.8 million.
Alberta Expects Further Growth in Regulated Gambling
The report reflects only the market’s initial months, when operators were gradually entering the regulated system. It also excludes Play Alberta, the government-operated platform, which reports its figures separately.
Since the reporting period ended, Alberta’s regulated market has expanded to more than 50 licensed sites. AiGC expects that figure to reach between 60 and 65 by the beginning of 2027.
The corporation plans to publish monthly market reports, giving the public a clearer view of wagering activity, revenue and the development of regulated online gambling in the province.
